When you build a website it takes a collection of skills to create it - design, usability, and programming. The designer will make the site aesthetically pleasing while the programmer makes the site functional. The interface usability is usually the two people or groups of people (designers and programmers respectively) working together to decide whether or not the site allows its visitors to navigate and interact with the site seamlessly. It could be one person with all these skills building the website or multiple people delegated to certain tasks. The more advanced the website, the more likely that multiple people build and support the website. The range of skills required to build and maintain large sites can be a lot. There is also the hardware side where the website physically resides. Understand the scope of human resources required to build and run your site before you start.
