Object.prototype Methods: isPrototypeOf()

The isPrototypeOf() method of the Object.prototype JavaScript object returns a boolean indicating whether the passed object is in the prototype chain of the object this method is called upon.

Here is the basic syntax:

prototypeObj.isPrototypeOf(obj)

Here, prototypeObj is an object to test to see if it inherits properties from each link in the prototype chain of the object argument. obj is the object whose prototype chain will be searched.
