In order to create black and white photos, a great program to use is called GIMP. GIMP is a free image editor. To install GIMP just Google "download gimp". From there you can choose the installation file that is appropriate for the operating system you are using.

Once you have installed GIMP, open a picture by clicking on "File" → "Open" in the top left corner. Then to make the picture black and white, click on "Image" → "Mode" → "Grayscale" and you're finished!

If you don't have any pictures to work with, you can use Google Images to find something to get you started. Go to Google Images and type whatever it is you're looking for. Once you find an image to your liking, right-click on the picture, and click "Save image as…". Sometimes if you would like to get the full sized image, instead of the Google Images thumbnail, you have to click on the picture to open it up first. Then you can right-click and click "Save image as….".

GIMP is an extremely useful program. If you wanted to try to do something else with your pictures, check out our other GIMP tutorials.
