When doing electrical work, it is highly recommended to minimize all your distractions. This will help you to focus on what you're doing. Being able to focus will reduce the odds of you having an accident and possibly getting hurt. Everyone knows their own abilities to multitask, but extra care should be taken when doing electrical work.

People who are new to doing electrical work will be highly focused based on their need to not mess up and not get hurt. For those who are seasoned experts, there are safety concerns when they become too comfortable with doing electrical work. People who get comfortable doing dangerous jobs can lose their attentiveness that needs to be present at all times. Being too comfortable might cause you to skip steps or just not be as focused as you should.

Here are some tips to keep you focused:

  • Do electrical work with only people around who are working with you, especially not around children.
  • Turn off the TV or radio.
  • Put your cell phone on silent.
  • Give yourself adequate time to do the job. You don't want to be rushing.
