Name collisions occur when you have two or more variables or functions with the same name, in the same scope. How will the JavaScript interpreter know which variable or function to reference when a name is used. This is similar to when you yell "dad" or "Bob" in a crowded room. Chances are that there is more than one dad or Bob in the room. The solution to preventing name collisions is to be sure you are using a unique name/identifier.
