The heading section starts with the opening <head> tag and ends with the closing </head> tag. This section is where information about the webpage is stored. The heading section stores the webpage's title, description, keywords, and other <meta> tags. You are also able to find references to other files the page uses. For example you might find references to external CSS and external JavaScript files. You might also find CSS and JavaScript code placed directly into this section. The only thing that gets displayed from this section is the title and the description.

The title appears in the title bar or tab bar of your browser. The title and description will also get displayed in search engines' results pages (SERPs). The title and description can also appear if you are posting/"sharing" the webpage on a social network like Facebook or Google+.
