The <title> HTML element defines the title of a webpage. It is required in all HTML documents and is located inside the <head> section. The title enclosed inside this element provides the title for:

  • The browser toolbar
  • The bookmark in favorites
  • The link in search engine results

You are only allowed one <title> element in an HTML document. If you forget the <title> element, your webpage will not pass W3C validation.
