What is a Rotor?

A rotor is the rotating part of an electrical machine. The stationary part of an electric motor is called the stator. The wires and magnetic field of the motor are arranged so that a torque is developed about the rotor's axis. Torque is a term used to describe the force used to rotate an object about an axis.
