CSS is a formatting language that works with your HTML code to give your website style. The CSS makes your marked-up content visually appealing. With CSS you are able to customize the following things:

  • font color
  • font size
  • font weight (how bold?)
  • font family (Time New Roman, Arial, etc.)
  • border width
  • border style (dotted, double line, etc.)
  • background color
  • background image
  • text decoration (use this to remove the underlines from links: text-decoration: none;)
  • unordered lists (bullets, squares, etc.)
  • ordered lists (numbered lists)
  • padding
  • margins
  • height of an element
  • width of an element

CSS gives your HTML shape and style. Your webpage's layout will be mostly reliant on your CSS.
