When you visit a webpage with JavaScript built into it, the JavaScript runs locally on the visitor's computer. Depending on the visitor's configuration will depend on how your JavaScript program will run. There are a couple of variables you will need to consider.

First, you will have to prepare for the possibility that the visitor might have JavaScript disabled in their browser. In this situation, you will need to make sure your webpage can handle this.

Secondly, you will have to be prepared for different browsers and browser versions. The best way to make sure your webpage will work on these browsers is to actually test the webpage with those browsers.

And lastly, make sure the size of your webpage is small enough for visitors with slow internet connections (websites with large budgets and traffic make use of CDNs). Believe it or not, but there are still a lot of people still using dial-up to connect to the internet.
